Alibaba's AI brand Qwen has been making waves with breakthroughs and expansions in recent months. In February, the company released Qwen 3.5, which claimed the title of the world's strongest open-source large model—an achievement that drew Elon Musk's praise in March for its "impressive intelligence density".
User adoption has surged: by March, the Qwen App surpassed 200 million monthly active users. During the 2025 Spring Festival, its AI shopping feature saw 130 million first-time users, with AI-assisted movie ticket orders jumping 372 times. The "Qwen Help Me" one-sentence order function was used over 200 million times, becoming a new Lunar New Year tradition.
Qwen’s ecosystem spans sectors: it integrates with Taobao for AI shopping and Xianyu for AI pricing. Educational tools include a Gaokao volunteer application agent and free services for fair information access. A football prediction AI assistant launched ahead of the World Cup.
Third-party collaborations include KFC, Luckin Coffee, and China Eastern Airlines, as Qwen opened to external agents. Technological updates include Qwen 3.7-Max (35-hour autonomous evolution) and Wanxiang 2.7 video generation model.
Future plans include global AI hardware like glasses. A forecast says by H2 2025, Chinese enterprises will use 37 trillion tokens daily, with Qwen leading. Qwen President Wu Jia believes China’s AI applications will lead the world.
