Google Search Console Now Shows Generative AI Impressions, Not Clicks
As of 31 August 2026 every Search Console property can see AI Overview and AI Mode impressions, without queries or clicks.
Direct answer
Google finished rolling the generative AI performance report out to every Search Console property on 31 August 2026. The report counts impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, and it does not include clicks or queries.
Google's generative AI performance report is now on every Search Console property. Search Engine Roundtable, citing Google's own note, dates the worldwide finish at 31 August 2026. The rollout had started in the first week of June.
The report sits as its own view of impressions inside generative AI features. Those impressions still count in the overall performance report. The new view separates them. For Search, Google's help page lists AI Overviews and AI Mode. Discover is reported apart from that.
What the numbers leave out
The dimensions are impressions, pages, countries, devices, and dates. Pages use the final URL after redirects, and data is assigned to the canonical URL. Devices cover desktop, tablet, and mobile for Search. Dates use Pacific Time.
Clicks, click-through rate, and query strings are not in this report. A GEO team can see which URLs are being shown inside AI answers, and where. It cannot see which prompts produced the impression, or whether anyone opened the link. Impression growth here is visibility, not traffic.
If the report is empty, Google's help text says to check the generative AI inclusion control. A site that has opted out will not collect these impressions.
