Qianwen, a leading AI platform, announced a series of strategic adjustments in early July 2026, marking a significant shift in its service focus and product capabilities. The platform will discontinue its C-end AI agent services by July 15, with self-built anthropomorphic roles and custom agent functions suspended as early as July 10. Users are advised to export and save relevant content before the shutdown, as all self-created materials will become inaccessible afterward.
This move aligns with the implementation of China’s first specialized regulation for AI anthropomorphic interactions—the "Interim Measures for the Management of AI Anthropomorphic Interactive Services"—effective July 15. Industry insiders note this regulatory compliance-driven adjustment signals a transition from scale-first to safety-controlled and commercially viable development in the AI agent sector. Concurrently, Qianwen is shifting focus to B-end enterprise solutions, where tool-based and task-oriented AI agents are expected to benefit from institutional dividends as the industry moves away from emotional陪伴-focused C-end applications toward professional B-end services.
Qianwen also upgraded its real-time speech recognition capabilities with the launch of the Fun-ASR-Realtime model. This streaming solution boasts a sub-100ms first-word delay and recognition accuracy close to offline models, supporting 16 Chinese dialects and 30 languages. The model proved effective in Film Hurricane’s 100-hour "Return to Desert Island" live stream, handling over 60,000 subtitles (1.32 million words) with excellent end-word delay performance.
Enhancing health services, Qianwen’s app now integrates five authoritative medical knowledge bases: State Food and Drug Administration full drug manuals, Chinese Nutrition Society knowledge base, latest clinical guidelines, 10-million-level medical literature, and over 10,000 medical publications. A "health traceability" feature allows users to trace each health advice to original sources (literature, textbooks, drug manuals) with highlighted links to original content. Every health answer also includes an "authoritative ingredient list" displaying the source basis of AI suggestions, enabling users to verify references independently.
The simultaneous discontinuation of AI agent services by Qianwen and Doubao sparked industry discussions, with experts viewing it as a regulatory-driven track switch pushing the AI industry to focus more on compliance and professional service capabilities.
