On August 7, IT Home reported that Alibaba's Qwen App has launched a series of new features, including enhanced Thinking Research, Scheduled Tasks, Office Assistant, Voice Calls, and an Intelligent Agent Plaza. Additionally, the app now supports the latest flagship model Qwen3.8-MAX.
The upgraded "Thinking Research" feature, an evolution of the original "Deep Thinking" capability, boosts complex reasoning, tool invocation, information integration, and structured output. It helps users conduct deeper research analysis and decision-making—for example, before a weekly meeting, users can upload relevant materials, and Qwen will generate a well-organized report covering work background, goals, achievements, and summaries.
Scheduled Tasks automate repetitive daily tasks like compiling industry briefings or categorizing emails. Users set a specific time (e.g., 8 AM daily), and Qwen will automatically search for news in AI, chip, or internet sectors and deliver a concise trend summary via push notifications.
The Office Assistant integrates with apps such as notes, calendars, and emails, and can operate computers and browsers to open web pages, download attachments, and utilize various skills to complete multi-step tasks. It can directly output usable Office documents or results—for instance, when needing to report regional data scattered across differently formatted files, it cleans and aggregates data without manual effort.
Qwen also supports cross-device collaboration between mobile and PC, allowing users to initiate tasks on mobile for execution on PC. Moreover, it has added 7x24 voice call capabilities for scenarios like interactive play, bedtime stories, tutoring, and voice-based ride-hailing.
The Intelligent Agent Plaza offers services like smart parcel delivery, cloud storage organization, high-definition scanning, and file querying. Users can @ relevant services or access agents for daily needs, with initial coverage across logistics, real estate, local life, finance, and automotive sectors—more services are in the pipeline.
