Nubia is redirecting all core resources to develop the second-generation Doubao AI phone, halting its traditional mobile business. The device, set to launch in H1 2026, will use the Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition chip and continue its AI partnership with ByteDance.
A user sued Doubao’s operator Beijing Chuntian Zhiyun Technology Co., Ltd. after the AI incorrectly stated a 5% ticket refund fee, causing a 600 yuan loss. The user claimed Doubao promised compensation but failed to deliver.
Meizu Technology expressed eagerness for deep collaboration with Doubao following the release of its AI phone tech preview, noting Doubao expanded industry imagination for AI-integrated devices.
Doubao and Qianwen will discontinue their AI agent function on July 15, 2026, to comply with new regulations on AI anthropomorphic interactions, which aim to protect minors and prevent emotional manipulation.
Doubao launched a paid professional version in gray testing, offering three tiers (standard, enhanced, premium) with monthly prices from 68 to 500 yuan and an annual premium fee of 5088 yuan, set for official launch in late June 2026.
ByteDance suspended the Doubao AI glasses project in February 2026, citing difficulties in achieving differentiated market features.
