Doubao AI has rolled out a suite of new productivity-focused features, aiming to redefine how users interact with AI for work and daily tasks. The update introduces dual support for local and cloud PC modes, mobile remote control capabilities, an expanded set of AI "skills," cross-app connectors, and a Windows-exclusive virtual desktop feature that operates without interfering with user activities.

One of the standout additions is the AI "skills" system, which the experience described as intuitive enough for AI beginners to master quickly. These skills act like game-changing "ultimate moves"—simple to trigger but powerful in execution. For instance, using the "Performance Analysis" skill with China Mobile data allows Doubao to automatically generate a comprehensive breakdown of the company’s 2026 first-half financial report, including key metrics, broker insights, management signals, and market focus areas, all presented in a clear, layered format. The skill set covers a wide range of use cases: from creating PPTs and financial statements to interpreting announcements, writing short dramas, selecting e-commerce products, searching medical literature, reviewing code changes, and even refining text to remove "AI-like" phrasing. Users can also customize skills by uploading existing ones or building new ones via dialogue, enabling unique, personalized tools tailored to individual needs.

Long-term task automation is another key feature. Users can set up recurring tasks that would be tedious or impossible for humans to handle manually—such as daily 5 PM briefings on Moutai and Changxin Tech’s stock prices and market sentiment, or weekly Beijing weekend travel plans delivered every Friday.

Doubao’s "connectors" function serves as a bridge between the AI and mainstream apps, allowing it to execute tasks across multiple platforms. After authorization, users can control apps like Didi for ride bookings, Taobao for shopping, or even coordinate material gathering and video editing across different tools. During testing, connecting apps like DingTalk and Tianyancha was straightforward—requiring only the app’s API key for integration. For example, using Tianyancha’s VIP features via Doubao enabled access to detailed corporate equity structure data (provided the user had an active VIP subscription). Notably, if an app’s API key isn’t available, Doubao can autonomously download necessary tools: in one test, it downloaded Calibre to convert a TXT file of Water Margin into a Kindle-compatible mobi format, then cleaned up temporary files to free up resources.

The mobile remote control feature is a game-changer for on-the-go productivity. With the same account authorized, users can send commands from their mobile devices to their connected PC—like deleting a folder named "111" and moving it to the recycle bin—which the PC executes almost instantly. This is ideal for scenarios like commuting, where users can assign tasks (e.g., preparing a PPT) to their work PC remotely. Windows users also benefit from an exclusive virtual desktop feature: it runs Doubao’s tasks in a separate environment, so users can continue their own work without disruption, and even monitor, pause, or take over the AI’s tasks in real time. For time-consuming tasks—like creating a 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival greeting webpage with word frequency statistics (which took about 30 minutes)—users can focus on other activities while Doubao handles the work.

User feedback highlights the impact of these features: one user noted that despite a 12-year gap in studying physics, they were able to build an AI chatbot using Doubao. This underscores the platform’s ability to democratize AI productivity for users of all skill levels.
