On August 7, IT之家 reported that Alibaba's Qwen App has introduced a suite of new features, including Think & Research, Scheduled Tasks, Office Assistant, Voice Calls, and Smart Agent Plaza, while also adding support for the latest flagship model Qwen3.8-MAX.
The 'Think & Research' feature, an upgrade from the previous 'Deep Thinking' function, strengthens complex reasoning, tool integration, information synthesis, and structured output capabilities. It helps users conduct deeper research analysis and provides decision-making support. For example, before a weekly meeting, users can upload relevant materials to Qwen, which then generates a well-structured document covering work background, objectives, achievement overviews, and summaries.
Scheduled Tasks automate repetitive daily tasks such as compiling industry briefings or categorizing emails. Users only need to set the execution time, and Qwen will handle the rest. For instance, users can schedule Qwen to search for news in AI, chip, and internet sectors every morning at 8 AM and produce a trend summary, which is pushed to them for quick access to key information.
The Office Assistant connects to applications like notes, calendars, and emails, and can operate computers and browsers to open web pages, download attachments, etc. It also uses various skills to complete multi-step tasks, directly outputting usable Office documents, applications, or websites. For example, if users need to report regional data scattered across files with different formats, the assistant can clean and aggregate the data without manual effort, delivering ready-to-use results.
Qwen also supports cross-device collaboration between mobile and PC—users can initiate tasks on mobile and have them executed on PC. Its updated voice call feature is available 24/7, catering to scenarios like interactive play, bedtime stories, tutoring, and voice-based ride-hailing.
Additionally, the Smart Agent Plaza offers services such as smart parcel delivery, cloud storage organization, high-definition scanning, and file queries. Users can @ relevant services or access corresponding agents to use these daily life services. The first batch of services covers over ten sectors including logistics, real estate, local life, finance, and automobiles, with more services in the pipeline.
