ByteDance is ramping up its presence in the AI office赛道 by unifying its product lineup under a new brand, 'Doubao Work'. Recent announcements reveal the company will merge its TRAE and Coze teams into the Doubao system, marking a strategic shift to center its AI office efforts on the Doubao platform.
Under the integration plan, TRAE Work and Coze will combine their capabilities with Doubao's work scenario features, while TRAE IDE and CLI will continue as programming-focused products under the Doubao brand. ByteDance states this adjustment aims to synergize product and technical resources, ensuring existing user rights remain unaffected.
Recent weeks have seen rapid updates from Doubao: on August 17, its 'Work Task' mode was upgraded to support mobile remote control of PCs; August 18 introduced the 'Doubao Virtual Desktop' for Windows operations; and August 21 launched 'Skills Connectors' and 'Work Teams' features, with over 200 standardized skills and connectors available for custom workflow creation.
Earlier in July, ByteDance merged its Feishu and Doubao product teams, with Feishu head Xie Xin reporting to Doubao leader Zhao Qi—viewed as a major AI-centered adjustment to its To B business.
User data shows Doubao leads the AI native app market: QuestMobile’s 2026 H1 list notes Doubao has 382 million monthly active users (MAU), ranking first, followed by Qianwen (167 million) and DeepSeek (130 million). However, in the desktop AI office segment (per July’s AI Product Rank · Desktop List), Tencent’s WorkBuddy (11.15 million MAU) and Baidu’s Dazi (6.74 million MAU) top the chart, accounting for ~60% of the market. Both saw significant growth: Dazi’s MAU rose by 1063.79% month-on-month, while WorkBuddy grew by 304.40%.
Industry insiders emphasize AI office competition is not just about user numbers—it’s a battle over scene depth, workflow integration, and enterprise-level barriers. ByteDance’s rivals are actively innovating, leaving no room for complacency.
The integration of TRAE, Coze, and Doubao presents key challenges: merging three distinct product logics (TRAE for developers, Coze for low/no-code AI, Doubao for consumer AI), ensuring smooth team collaboration, and balancing user demands for all-in-one solutions vs specialized tools.
