ByteDance officially launched "Doubao Work" on August 25, marking its first AI Agent release after the late-July integration of Feishu and Doubao product teams. Led by Doubao head Zhao Qi, the merged team delivered the new tool in less than a month, signaling rapid progress in its productivity AI push.

Unlike the regular Doubao (which includes chat functions), Doubao Work is strictly for productivity scenarios. It currently has an independent PC client, while mobile users can access it via the Doubao app or Feishu. A key advantage is its deep Feishu integration: users can log in with Feishu accounts to access enterprise knowledge within their permission scope, and documents created in Doubao Work sync seamlessly with Feishu.

Core capabilities include drafting plans, summarizing meetings, analyzing data, and generating web content. Power-On Lab tested it to create a fully functional match-three game in 6 minutes—editable without coding. It also supports local file access (e.g., inserting desktop images into documents) and human-AI co-writing, allowing direct edits or AI optimization of specific text sections.

Early users get a 30-day free standard subscription (valued at ~68 yuan) by downloading Doubao Work or upgrading the regular Doubao app.

The AI office market is crowded with rivals like Tencent’s Workbuddy and Alibaba’s Qianwen Office. Internet analyst Zhang Shule notes that while current competition focuses on user acquisition, product strength—specifically the ability to create reusable, user-friendly skills—will determine long-term success. "All major players are on the same starting line for this," he adds.

With its Feishu integration and practical features, Doubao Work is worth trying, especially with the free trial. Its ability to evolve reusable skills will be critical to standing out.
